Child Care Programs at Kaneohe Bay Hawaii

Child, Youth and Teen Programs: Offers family care referrals (on base home day cares), School Age Care for after school programs, and CDC (Child Development Center) which takes children six weeks thru six years.

Hourly Care: Available by reservation 8:00am-2:30pm Mon-Fri for children 6 weeks+. Walk-ins are accepted on a space available basis. Everyone must be preregistered for information and reservations. 808-257-8354

Child Development Center (CDC): For children 6 weeks-preK. Vacancies are filled from a waiting list, please register in bldg #5082 near the housing office.

Free Deployment Child Care: Available to deployed Marines and Sailors supporting of OFI/OEF and the Global War on Terrorism Operations for more than 30 days. Children must be 6 weeks old to 10 years, and is provided for up to 10 hours per month, per child available through FCC (Certified Family Child Care) providers and at the HCDC (Hourly Child Development Center). 808-257-7430

On Base Activities:

After School Programs: There are several after school programs offered on base divided into age groups.

Aspen Program is for children who need childcare on days that teachers have conferences. The program begins July 27, 2009 at Youth Activities Center, Building 1090 (behind Papa John’s). Fees are based on a sliding scale. 808-254-7610

Boys & Girls Club: Youth ages 10-18 are invited to visit the teen center located in Bldg. 1090.Hours of operation are after school until 8:00pm Mon-Fri. Monthly and weekly schedules will be posted and highlight regular happenings and upcoming special events. The only fee for visiting our Teen Center is the $25.00 annual CYTP membership. 808-254-7610

Manana Boys & Girls Club: After school program in the Manana housing area. This facility is open Mon-Friday from 2:00pm-7:30pm. For information contact the Manana Teen Center at 808-456-1662.

Teen Center: A place for teens to come and go and is open after school from 2:00pm-7:00pm and Fridays from 2:00pm-8:00pm. There’s air-hockey, a pool table, video games, a giant TV and computers. The Club is fundamentally a sanctuary that base teens can retreat, escape and gather to develop a sense of who they are as individuals and to enrich relationships with other teens. 808-254-7610.

Exceptional Family Member Program: Plus some great resources here as well:

Project Assist: Offered through Tripler Army Medical Center (services at PT and OT). Free! Once you arrive in Hawaii, it is recommended that you make an appointment with one of the social workers at Tripler and they will let you know about the services you can receive.

Surf Assist: Once a month at White Plains Beach with therapy surfing. Free!

Learning Disabilities Association of Hawaii: Offers classes on Individual Education Plans (IDP).

Therapeutic Horseman of Hawaii: Hippotherapy (horse therapy) call 937-7903 for more information.

Manawale’s Riding Center: Hippotherapy (horse therapy)

Don’t forget to stop in at the EFMP office because the Marine Corps has services as well.

School Camps for Breaks: Programs specifically designed for children ages 5-12.

Camp Adventure: Arts and Crafts; Sports; Swimming; on and off base Field Trips, Music; Dance and more. Registration starts the month prior to each camp. Fees are determined by total family income. They offer Fall (Oct), Winter (Dec/Jan), Spring (Apr) and Summer (June/July) camps. 808-254-7610

Summer Sport Camps: Many sport camps are available for children ages 5-12 during the summer.

Contracted Youth Classes: Kaneohe has several classes available through contractors on base: dance, gymnastics, art and sewing, piano lessons, driver’s education and goju-kan karate.

Dance and Gymnastics classes are available for children 1-18. Team Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Tumbling & Trampoline, Jazz & Tap Dancing, Hula and others. Feel free to come and observe a class prior to signing up. 808-254-7648 for more information. Fees will vary according to class frequency and length

Piano lessons are available for children 3-17.

Sewing and art schedules are available for adults and children. Sewing classes are children 12-adult. Art classes are children 6-12 and 13-adult

Goju-Kan Karate are available for children 6 years and older as well as adults.

Youth Sports

Base Community Center Sports Programs: Semper Fit Youth Sports offering sports from baseball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, flag football, volleyball, wrestling and in-line hockey.  There’s a link to registration for these sports at this website.
