North (Off Base) Pendleton Preschool Programs

Saint Michael’s Preschool: They give a military discount and are located close to the beach in San Clemente. They also offer hourly care on top of their regular preschool program, so you can leave your child longer for certain days if necessary. I really like their program, my daughter went there and was tested at the top of being ready for Kindergarten.

Presbyterian Church Preschool: People have raved about this Pre-K. There tends to be a long waiting list, so get in early. Church members also get first dibs. They also have a very active MOPS program people rave about.

Youth Sports

Sports Southern Camp Pendleton

On Base Youth Sports: Includes soccer, T-Ball, football, basketball. Ages 4/5 (depending on sport) and up. This is not a parent involved program, though they love volunteers. Some would say that many of the base youth programs are not as competitive as going out in town.

Swimming Lessons: Group and Private lessons are available. 760-725-5084

Martial Arts: Oceanside Martial ArtsOceanside KarateWhite Dragon Martial ArtsChampion Eyes Martial Arts, and Dojo Americana.

Gymanstics/Cheer: Oceanside Gymnastics

Oceanside Parks & Recreation: Offers a few programs the base does not: In-line hockey, girl’s lacrosse, girl’s softball. Also contains links for skate parks, recreation centers, swim centers.

Northern Camp Pendleton

San Clemente Parks and Recreation: Offers a few programs the base does not:  water polo, rugby, lacrosse, beach volleyball, and special olympics. Also contains a lot of useful links.

Swimming Lessons: We recommend Water Babies and the Vista Hermosa Pool

If you participate with the base sports, you’ll be driving to mainside for all your games. Plus the leagues are very competitive and the kids learn a lot. We saved the time and gas by playing out in San Clemente.

Soccer: I recommend playing the AYSO 111.

Baseball: I recommend playing Little League in San Clemente.

Hockey: Shoot to Score is a highly recommended Hockey League.

Tackle Football: South Coast Pop Warner and Cheer

Flag Football: Five on Five Football in San Juan Capistrano. They divide their seasons up shorter so you can play fall soccer, then football, then spring baseball, etc without going too much into each season. San Clemente Parks and Rec also has a Friday Lights Flag Football League.
