I’ve Got Orders and am Moving to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii
What should I bring with me when I move to Hawaii?
Suggestions to Bring: You get two shipments: Standard and Express. Housing will provide washers and dryers for you and will not remove them. So if you bring your own, you will be responsible for storing the old ones.
Express: Microwave, anything you use on a weekly basis such as dishes, coffee pot, pot/pan set, cookie sheets, etc. Anything you use on a regular basis like photography, scrapbooking, etc.
Standard: All of the rest of your belongings.
Cultural Experiences
Keep an open mind in moving to Hawaii. This state has its own very rich culture and can offer many different foods than you get on the mainland. Some have been turned off by the fact that locals speak pigeon (a combination language) but if you embrace it rather than fight it you will leave more educated about a different culture. I strongly encourage exploring the local communities off base because you will walk away with a broader cultural experience.
Moving with Pets to Hawaii
There are a lot of rules when it comes to bringing your beloved pet to Hawaii. There is a quarantine for all pets brought into Hawaii, but the waiting period will be substantially less if you do your homework in advance and are prepared for the requirements. Know that the DoD will reimburse up to $550 to help against the costs of quarantine for your animal.
To quarantine for 5 days or less, click for the requirements. If you don’t pass those guidelines, your pet may be quarantined for up to 120 days.

Major Airports
Which airport should I fly into to get to Kaneohe Bay Hawaii?
Note that the times are rough estimates and can change depending on traffic.
Honolulu (HNL): Approximately 30 minutes. The only major airport into Hawaii is on the island of Oahu.
You can also try to fly Space A to Hawaii.
