GETTING TO AND FROM

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. ~Leonardo Da Vinci

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is situated outside of San Diego and gets the beautiful weather year round. This is a small military base, but it is surrounded by beautiful homes and lots of shopping. You are right in the midst of three great communities: La Jolla, Poway and San Diego. All three cities are approximately 15 minutes away, so there is much to do at your fingertips.

This base is very intimate and easy to get to know. There’s a great opportunity to meet friends and build a good support system. This base is easy to get around and much of it has been remodeled. There’s a very good youth sports program on base as well.

Weather

The weather here is almost always beautiful. The winters do get down in the 40’s but the afternoons tend to be sunny and warm. If you live on the coast, you will get the marine layer in the mornings.  This typically burns off by mid-day. We do experience “June gloom” where the skies areovercast and it tends to be colder most of the days. The summers average 80-85 degrees inland and dips down to the mid 50’s. It’s a perfect place to live. We are not close to a fault line, but do get small mini-quakes. It’s best to be on the safe side and have a plan with food and water stored just in case.
