Military Housing on Quantico Marine Corps Base

Quantico is a public city within the base. However, no matter where you live, you shouldn’t get a false sense of security living on or near base. The public has access to this area and a commuter train stops here as well, so be on your guard with your children. There are also pedophiles living on Quantico because it is a public city. You can search the Virginia Sex Offender’s Registry with zip code 22134 to discover where the offenders are near you.

Housing Rentals Off Base for Marine Corps Quantico

The BAH Basic Allowance for Housing for Quantico is zip 22134. Most people moving to Quantico will have to live out in town.  It’s highly recommended that you research traffic patterns before you commit to renting or buying a home. Congestion in Washington DC and the Quantico area is very bad and you may get stuck in traffic for hours commuting.

Check the area for local crime reports and sex offender reports.

  • Many families I know have chosen to live in Stafford for proximity to the base and easy commuting.
  • Consider Woodbridge for a reverse commute, especially because many get stationed at the Pentagon after a tour at Quantico and it’s closer to DC.

Quantico Base Housing

This base housing has been outsourced to Lincoln Military Housing. Almost all the housing on this base is reserved for people in schools:

  • EWS (Expeditionary Warfare School)
  • CSC (Command and Staff College).
  • Permanent personnel are put on a VERY long waiting list. Let’s put it this way. If you’re not attending a school in Quantico, plan on renting out in town. Check for waiting list, floorplans, and photo tours below. Of course living on base always has its own set of problems, which are consistent with every other base in the Marine Corps.

Students attending MCU

If you are a future student, you will want to be checking the Marine Corps University website continually. Click on New Student Check-in.  Then Click on “Family and Bachelor Housing Information”, then “Housing and Application Procedures”

There’s an official “start date” where housing begins to accept housing applications, via email (mcbq_fhb_application@usmc.mil) and fax: 703-784-5958. The official date will be posted for every year and applications will be accepted at 0001 Eastern Time on that day.  I highly recommend filling out all the paperwork in advance and pre-scheduling your email.

There are approximately 58 Field Grade homes, not all of which will be available for turnover for Command and Staff.  There are several hundred Company Grade homes for EWS.

The process for housing first goes to EWS students, then it goes to the International Officers, then it goes to C&S.  A week or so prior to Command and Staff starting, many of the international officers who previously accepted a home, refuse the home, so then homes pop up last minute.  If you’re determined to live on base and you have a wait list number lower than 50, hang in there and see if a house comes up last minute.

Finally, C&S students are oftentimes shuffled between Company Grade and Field Grade homes, no matter the rank.
