About this community
Heritage Heights is one of the newest on-post neighborhoods at Fort Hood (known as Fort Cavazos from 2023 to 2025), built for junior enlisted Soldiers and their families. The neighborhood replaces the 1960s-era Chaffee Village, which began coming down in 2021, and is managed by Cavalry Family Housing, the Army’s privatized housing partner on post.
Homes are single-family three-bedroom, two-bath designs with open floor plans, gathering spaces, and two-car garages. They are Energy Star certified and built to LEED design standards, so they run efficiently and stay comfortable through Central Texas summers. Hundreds of homes were completed in 2024, and more are planned through 2027.
